Are you ready for Progress?
Yes. I can help you transform goals into reality!
As an eternal student myself, I know how challenging it can be to find someone with not only the knowledge, but the communication skills and coaching necessary to guide you to success. I have developed my teaching system based on these key factors.
Knowledge: In order to be a competent teacher, one must fully understand all aspects of what they are teaching. One must understand the reasons for it's creation, consequences for inaccurate execution, and all practical uses. I have studied classical dressage with the world's finest living classical masters for over a decade, attending 6-8 of their clinics a year (in addition to my extensive library). I have studied both French, and German classical systems for horse and rider development, and have revered the "old ways" in highest honor.
In your lessons you will learn correct execution of exercises, why it is the correct execution, how to recreate it by yourself, when it is appropriate to use it, how to integrate it into your schooling, and how to troubleshoot exercises.
Communication and Coaching: Effective communication of knowledge is key to implementation and comprehension. It is never the student's fault for not understanding what is expected. Many instructors have the knowledge, but few have the communication skills or training to effectively teach what they know!
Because effective communication is so critical to learning I take part in ongoing education on how to teach, how to coach, and how to communicate. I am a certified coach in GROW model coaching, which is particularly useful in making serious progress in my students. I am approaching completion of my certification in Neuro Linguistic Programming which destroys mental blocks, fears, anxiety, and enables to "non kinetic" learner to connect their brains with their bodies. As personal fitness is an integral part of the equestrian sport, I utilize my knowledge and certification as a Cycling Fitness Instructor to develop individualized off horse fitness plans as well.
In November of 2012, I was a featured in an article for professionals on how to fight burn out as an instructor and trainer. You can read the article here.
I am an equal opportunity instructor and trainer. I do not discriminate based on your horse's breed, style, tack, or upbringing. I have a fiduciary duty to your horse above all else. Chaque pas est fait ensemble.
