Please have your horse up, groomed adequately so they are free of mud, and dry, prior to your appointment time.
For our static portion of our evaluation and consultation, we need a space that is sheltered and relatively level to work. This is especially critical for saddle fitting appointments to get accurate measurements and adjustments.
All appointments have an expectation that you will be riding for some portion of the visit, so please be dressed to ride!!
Horses need to be serviceably sound for their appointment. A horse experiencing vet worthy lameness or is otherwise deemed unrideable cannot be fitted. *The only exception is with horses being fitting for their first articles of tack to be started under saddle. Please note that all travel and service fees are due if we arrive to complete our tasks and evaluate the horse and are unable to complete due to soundness or horse physical or behavioral reactivity.
Please do not exercise your horse prior to your appointment if at all possible. Furthermore, please do not tranquilize your horse without disclosing this information. If this is unavoidable, let us know prior as it will affect your horse's measurements (saddle fitting).
Remember to have all of the tack you wish to have evaluated handy including any saddle pads, or extra bits, etc. We do appreciate when tack and pads are clean but please refrain from deep conditioning leather prior to your appointment. It makes it more difficult to work on when it's greasy.
Facility Checklist
If your farm is at all challenging for Google Maps to locate, please be sure to give your fitter tips on how to locate the farm.
Every facility is a little different, so if we need further guidance on how to locate you on the property, please include this information as well.
While we are dog lovers ourselves, they do pose a safety risk to us being able to perform our jobs at our best. We appreciate dogs not being in attendance for your fitting whenever possible.
Where you choose to ride for your fitting is your choice! An arena is not necessary to have a fitting, but an area where we can maintain a line of sight while you walk and trot is needed. In some circumstances, even a sandy driveway has been fine, so please don't feel like you need anything fancy.
Lastly, we do need that surface under shelter that is relatively level. This can be a car port, run in shelter, or even a mesh sun sail, or even a nice tree. While cross ties in a barn is most common, we are fine with creativity that gets us out of the sun.
